Are you looking for Augmented Reality Vs Virtual Reality?. If yes, then this blog is just for you. Here I will discuss Augmented Reality Vs Virtual Reality, and Its details. So, give your few minutes to this article in order to get all the details regarding Augmented Reality Vs Virtual Reality.
Hello, & Welcome!
In this blog, I am gonna tell you-
Augmented Reality Vs Virtual Reality.
Augmented Reality?
Virtual Reality?
It sounds like a science fiction movie. Right?
But the two technologies have been getting a lot of hype. They allow us to travel to unknown destinations. And become PokeMasters right from the comfort of our living room.
But What are these technologies are?
Let’s see in the next section.
What is Virtual Reality?
What you think by the name “Virtual Reality“?.
As the name suggests, “Virtual Reality”, Reality means its real, and “Virtual” means not physically existing.
That means something that is real but it is not existing physically.
You can enter into a different world by wearing a VR headset. This world doesn’t exist physically.
Suppose if you wear a VR headset and you are sitting in your room. But you load Eiffel Tower tour in VR headset. So, you feel that you are in Paris, and standing in front of Eiffel Tower. You will feel that you are in Paris, but in reality, you are in your room.
Very Interesting. Right?.
In other words, you are not going anywhere physically. But with the help of Virtual Reality, you are feeling that you are in Paris.
Virtual Reality allows users to experience the 360-degree world. When you move your head in any direction, so you can see the view of that side. That means Virtual Reality allows you to take the views of all sides.
Examples of Virtual Reality.
The most common example of Virtual Reality is Google Cardboard. Google Cardboard is the headset. Where if you put your phone inside this board, so it split the phone screen into two parts.
And when you wear Google Cardboard, so you see images or videos in the 3D form.
The high-end example of Virtual Reality is Oculus Rift. This company is working on Virtual Reality for many years.
Another Example of Virtual Reality is the Samsung Galaxy Gear VR, Sony Project Morpheus, and HTC Vive.
Now youtube introduced a new feature of “Watch in VR’. So if you have a Virtual Reality Headset, you can watch youtube videos in VR.
Another Example of VR is 3D Gaming. Suppose you play a game DeadTrigger. So if you wear a VR headset, then you will feel that you are in the game world. And you are walking and shooting.
Facebook is coming up with a new idea known as Facebook Horizon. Which is an ever-expanding via community, where you can explore, play, and create.
Amazing. Right?.
Virtual Reality Technology is not costly. Only you need a lens mechanism. Rest work your phone does.
But,
To experience Virtual Reality on your phone, your phone must have Gyroscope. Gyroscope is hardware or device which measures the orientation and angular velocity.
History of VR
The historical journey of VR began back in 1800. This marvelous idea has been evolving from the time practical photography came into existence.
Morton Heilig invented the first VR device called sensorama in 1957. This multimedia device the sensorama is considered one of the earliest VR systems.
However, the Virtual Reality term came later by Jaron Lanier in 1987.
Now, let’s move into augmented reality.
What is Augmented Reality?
In simple words, Augmented Reality is the next step of Virtual Reality. Augmented Reality is much advanced, expensive, amazing, and interesting as compared to Virtual Reality.
In augmented reality, you don’t have a need to wear a full headset. Take an example of Google Glass. In google glass, there is a small display on the side.
In Augmented Reality, you are in the real world. Unlike in VR, You are not going in the virtual world. But a little display comes into the corner.
Augmented Reality, or AR, allows people to add digital elements into their actual environment. Like you can add AR elements into your room.
On Instagram, most of us use filters. So these filters are nothing but Augmented Reality.
Examples of Augmented Reality.
The best example of Augmented Reality is Microsoft Hololens.
So how AR or Microsoft Hololens works?.
Suppose you are playing a game. So you need an opponent or fighter. If you wear the glass or Hololens, then you are seeing your actual world, along with that some augmented character will appear.
You have probably interacted with this technology already. Pokemon Go, Social Apps, and even the NFL all use Augmented Reality.
Google Glass, Microsoft Hololens, Magic Leap, and SLR Magic are examples of Augmented Reality. They are highly expensive and powerful.
Another example of Augmented Reality is IKEA Furniture Company. This company made an app. Which can be used in Smartphones and on Tablet. This app contains a full catalog of furniture.
So if you want to purchase a Dining Table. But you don’t know that it will fit in your room or not. So with the help of Augmented Reality used in this app, you can easily check.
Augmented Reality creates a Dining Table in your room. So you can check that it will fit or not by moving it into a different direction.
History of AR
AR or Augmented Reality is not a new technology. Ivan Sutherland developed the first AR gadget known as The Sword of Damocles in 1968.
This system used computer graphics to show users simple wireframe drawings.
From Pokemon go to training future surgeons, augmented reality is starting to infiltrate many industries of our society.
So, now you understand the Definition, examples, and History of VR and AR.
Now let’s see the difference between or Augmented Reality Vs Virtual Reality.
